Event highlights (TENTATIVE RELEASE) Many suffer for laws that extract money and enforce punishment on those with the disease of addiction as well as their families. That addiction is a disease is now emphasized by government agencies such as NIDA, SAMHSA, NIAAA, and a spate of recent television documentaries. Unitarian Universalists are at the forefront of drug policy reform to end unjust laws currently maintained on the basis of a combination of false ideology and greed.
Ron du Bois, Co-Founder, Drug Policy Forum of Oklahoma, and local attorney, Virginia Banks, will co-present the HBO video, “Addiction”, a documentary approved by three government agencies. They will conduct an open discussion on the documentary and discuss local exploitation and punishment of addiction, the economic importance of the drug war to Stillwater, and the damage it inflicts on Payne County families.
