Event highlights
A community gathering to view HBO’s “Addiction” documentary. Experts on addiction and recovery will facilitate group discussions focusing on different topics like: addiction to opiates, alcohol, and gambling, and dual diagnosis treatment. Groups for professionals on mental health and addictions will be available by RSVP.
- 12:00 – 1:00 pm – Documentary viewing followed by Q & A’s
- 1:00 – 1:30 pm – (General public) Opiate addiction presentation by Dr. Erik van Ginkel, Medical Director for the Addiction Treatment Program at South Miami Hospital
- 1:30 – 2:00 pm – (Practitioners) Opiate addiction presentation by. Dr Erik van Ginkel
- 2:00 – 3:00 pm – “Gambling addiction” presentation by Alfonso Lozada, C.A.P.
- 3:00 – 4:00 pm – “Acupuncture and alternative treatments” presentation by Jan Kaufmann, A.P., A.D.S., P.A, Acupuncture Physician
- 4:00 – 5:00 pm – “Alcohol addiction” – various treatments
